Lent Day 32
Easter- The Characters in the Story Joseph of Arimathe’a
Responses are from a liturgy used on Iona- Wildgoose Publications
Where Christ Walks We will follow
Where Christ stumbles We will stop
Where Christ cries We will listen
Where Christ suffers We will hurt
When Christ dies We will bow our heads in Sorrow
When Christ rises again in glory We will share his endless joy.
My name is Joseph of Arimathe’a. I am an influential Jew. It would have been difficult for me to be an active follower of Jesus because of my position. But I do now believe that he was the Messiah as was proclaimed. He taught me much though I am an educated man. Now he is dead all I can do is put him in my tomb which I had bought for myself. I feel so helpless but I did do something.
Prayer
Heavenly Lord, Jospeh was a man of faith who did not proclaim his faith outwardly but secretly. Help us not to worry about what other people may think of our faith, but help us to put our whole trust in you and so risk changing the world. Amen
