The Characters in the Story Centurion

Responses are from a liturgy used on Iona- Wildgoose Publications

Where Christ Walks We will follow

Where Christ stumbles We will stop

Where Christ cries We will listen

Where Christ suffers We will hurt

When Christ dies We will bow our heads in Sorrow

When Christ rises again in glory We will share his endless joy.

"I’m a Roman Centurion. I get paid to do what I am told. I tell others and I ensure that everything is done properly to the letter of the law. Seeing Jesus of Nazareth die like he did, herding the thunder, it felt like the heavens themselves ground when he died. Whatever it was- this man was special I now that. But I just do what I’m told."

Prayer Heavenly Lord, sometimes we close our eyes to your presence in the world. We cannot see you where you are and where you are at work. Remind us and prompt us always to have our eyes open to see you in each other and in all the world and especially in those people and places that we decide is God forsaken, but you know that is especially where you are.
