Lent Day 29
Easter- The Characters in the Story The Other Thief
Responses are from a liturgy used on Iona- Wildgoose Publications
Where Christ Walks We will follow
Where Christ stumbles We will stop
Where Christ cries We will listen
Where Christ suffers We will hurt
When Christ dies We will bow our heads in Sorrow
When Christ rises again in glory We will share his endless joy.
What was the other thief thinking? We know it was something like this:- I’m a thief and I also die on the cross with Jesus. Save yourself Jesus so that you can save me. If you are the Son of God save yourself. Prove it to me, and I will believe if you save me too. If I see you get down from the cross I will believe. I have fought against the Romans, they are the common enemy, together we can save Israel from Rome. Let us be strong, don’t die weak.
Prayer
Heavenly Lord, help us not to use our faith as a weapon to defend who we are and what we think. Instead help to always put our faith in such a place that daily it changes us and makes us more in the image of Jesus Christ.
Amen.
You see that is our faith, that is our mission, ot to chnage the hearts amd minds of others, but be so open (holy) that we be searching to change our hearts and minds to discover God more readily in life.
