Easter- The Characters in the Story Caiaphas the High Priest

Responses are from a liturgy used on Iona- Wildgoose Publications

Where Christ Walks We will follow

Where Christ stumbles We will stop

Where Christ cries We will listen

Where Christ suffers We will hurt

When Christ dies We will bow our heads in Sorrow

When Christ rises again in glory We will share his endless joy.

Jesus has fallen again. I don’t know why he proclaimed himself to be the Son of God; it is blasphemous! What was I supposed to do ? I am Caiaphas the High Priest after all, the defender of the faith, the defender of God’s name, I just can’t have anyone saying they are the Son of God, especially if they go about throwing tables over in the temple.

Prayer

Heavenly Lord, Caiaphas was blinded by his religion. Help us to see you at work, not only in our own Church, but in our lives and in the lives of those around us, particularly those whom we find difficult to understand. For at this time we know that we can all do something, phone, eat a, little less, smile across the street from our own home. Send a tweet. Help us to see what we can do, not what we can't. Amen
