Lent Day 19
Easter- The Characters in the Story Herod
Responses are from a liturgy used on Iona- Wildgoose Publications
Where Christ Walks We will follow
Where Christ stumbles We will stop
Where Christ cries We will listen
Where Christ suffers We will hurt
When Christ dies We will bow our heads in Sorrow
When Christ rises again in glory We will share his endless joy.
I’m Herod, the King of the Jews. The only King. Not some jumped up prophet from Nazareth who rides on a donkey and who wants to die for his friends. A King lives, rides a war horse and his friends die for him. Look at him pathetically carrying his cross and falling down. From my point of view, what kind of a King is that?
Prayer
Heavenly Lord, Jesus taught his disciples that to be greatest was to be the one that serves. Help us we pray, not to be like Herod, jealous of our power, but like Jesus who wasted his disciples feet the night before he died.
