Easter- The Characters in the Story Pontius Pilate
Responses are from a liturgy used on Iona- Wildgoose Publications
Where Christ Walks We will follow
Where Christ stumbles We will stop
Where Christ cries We will listen
Where Christ suffers We will hurt
When Christ dies We will bow our heads in Sorrow
When Christ rises again in glory We will share his endless joy.
I’m Pontius Pilate, ruler for the Roman Empire in Palestine. The Jewish authorities have, out of jealousy asked me to crucify Jesus. I believe he is innocent of the charges against Rome, and yet they have threatened that if Jesus goes free they’ll tell Caesar I’m a traitor. So what do I do?
Prayer Heavenly Lord, Pilate was forced to make a decision. Help us always to make the right decisions and always choose to help the weak and protect the innocent. Amen
